Conservation and Green Jobs Internships Program
ACI’s Career Path Project Conservation Track is a partnership with the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation and the Boeing Corporation. The program offers juniors and seniors from Associated College of Illinois' member institutions who have an interest in the natural world, the chance to explore the wide array of professional leadership opportunities available within conservation organizations. While raising interest in conservation careers and helping conservation organizations meet their need for well-trained and motivated individuals, the Career Path Project Conservation Track facilitates the successful transitions from college into the 21st century conservation workforce. Specifically, the intended outcomes of ACI’s Career Path Project Conservation Track include:
- exposing ACI interns to actual hands-on work experience in conservation leadership, including comprehensive management and organizational skills essential to non-profit organizations,
- providing ACI interns with the career skills necessary for portfolio development,
- connecting interns with hands-on work experience/observations that build career readiness and professional networks in the conservation and non-profit sector
- providing interns with information about the needs, possibilities and leadership roles available in conservation organizations, and
- developing a pool of trained generalists, managers, and volunteers for not-for-profit conservation organizations.
